Springtime for Festivals

Not to be extremely basic but: hell yes, it's springtime, friends. Wellington's seasonal seesaw-ing non-withstanding, I cannot wait for weather to be brighter and warmer, for events to be happening during daylight hours, and for my energy reserves to properly kick themselves up a notch. September and October also means festival times are happening - TAHI and NZ Improv Festival are on sale and on their way, and NZ Fringe Festival is open for registrations (Feb-Mar 2027). I'm teaching at NZIF and hosting a panel or two, as well as fulfilling my Official Duties as chair of the board.

• The NZ Improv Fest performance programme is now ON SALE and you can book all the tickets you like at BATS Theatre right now! Shows run 2-10 October.
• You can also book tickets for TAHI Festival, happening in multiple venues, 9-19 September.
• Register for NZ Fringe 2027 here - open access, you just need to have a venue and a plan. Speaking of: if you're planning to pitch for BATS, you've got til 12 September (that's this Saturday).
• Toi o Taraika Arts Wellington is holding a Meet the Candidates forum for members on Wednesday 16 September. Not a member? Learn more here. It's only $25 a year for independent practitioners.

• The Natural History Boy (Matt Powell). 16-19 September, 8pm at BATS Theatre, tix $18-25. Part of TAHI Festival of Solo Performance.
  "Bring your favourite weird and wonderful animal fact and watch it come to life in a one-of-a-kind improvised nature documentary from one of Wellington's foremost improvisers."
• New Zealand Improv Fest. 2-10 October at BATS Theatre, various times, so many shows, omg get into it (I'll do a full round up next issue).
• The Sublet, (Locomotive and various). 15-17 October at BATS Theatre, six different shows in just three days. Two more shows to come online soon but you can start getting booked now :)
